Sony gets chatty about forthcoming flagship smartphone

With around two months to go before the International CES kicks off, Sony has already started chatting up strategy. ?Mobile sales head Dennis van Schie recently spoke to Financial Times Deutschland where he indicated their upcoming flagship handset will compete with with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S III and Apple iPhone 5.

Based on recent rumors and leaks, the Odin seems to be the most likely candidate for the moniker of Sony flagship. The specs are right but we fear the overall availability could hurt Sony?s chances of grabbing a bigger piece of that pie. They have yet to hit the United States with a large rollout or mult-carrier release, something at which both Samsung and Apple have become adept.

As we see it, there are two parts to any potential success for Sony. First, they must deliver a top of the line hardware set with the most recent version of Android in a timely manner. Second, they need the help of multiple wireless providers. ?Anything less than that and Sony won?t be ?competing? with Apple or Samsung.
