VANCOUVER: Hotels on Parade

With travel being the essence of inspiration, it is critical to enjoy yourself ? and the hotel you choose is quite the determining factor. After six years in the making, the Vancouver Art Gallery has finally unveiled Grand Hotel: Redesigning Modern Life, a retrospective of the hotel and its evolution from a utilitarian structure to a cultural phenomenon. Describing hotels as the ?defining structures of the modern age,? the exhibition reflects on the physical and psychological dimensions of the hotel using four main themes ? Travel, Design, Social, and Culture. Inspired by the 1932 film Grand Hotel, this fascinating exhibition spans three centuries and presents interrelated stories of guests over the years, for a unique perspective on travel culture. ?
