The motorcycle industry still hasn't recovered from the financial collapse of 2008, but one Italian brand is reporting impressive sales numbers in spite of their stratospheric price point. Ducati North America achieved their highest ever sales figure in 2012, which saw their tenth consecutive quarter of growth and a 21 percent increase in year-over-year volume.

Ducati's 2012 sales numbers may be a drop in the bucket compared to those of their Audi corporate overlords-- 10,883 Ducs were sold in North America while Audi outpaced them by a factor of more than ten-- but in a motorcycle industry that's still struggling to regain its footing following the days when consumers were flush with discretionary funds, this bright spot may just bode well for the rest of the two-wheeled microcosm.
